Why the setting matters more than the pressure
Pressure washing sounds like one job, but concrete, brick pavers, stucco and a wood fence do not take the same treatment. Turn the pressure up on stucco or wood and you are no longer cleaning it, you are cutting into it. The mark is permanent, and it usually looks worse than the dirt did.
So Alan's sets the pressure for the surface in front of it. Concrete can take more than stucco or a wood fence can. The goal is a surface that looks clean from the street without looking scoured.

Algae, sprinkler deposits and sunscreen on pool decks
Shaded corners grow algae, sprinklers leave mineral deposits, and pool decks hold sunscreen and calcium. Each one needs a different approach, which is why one pass with one setting does not finish the job.
Algae lives in the spots the sun never reaches: the north side of a house, under a tree, along a fence line. Irrigation deposits are the hard-water residue left where sprinkler spray lands on walls and walkways. Pool decks pick up sunscreen and calcium buildup.
